The Green Gym

The Green Gym was thought up by Dr William Bird of Sonning Common Health Centre as a follow-on to his successful, and award-winning, Health Walks project. It was set up in conjunction with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV).

Sonning Common Health Centre

The Health Centre was opened in 1970. and was purchased by the partners from the West Berkshire Health Authority in 1993. Located in a semi-rural area, we look after a population of some 8,000 within a six-mile radius and have some special arrangements for those in Binfield Heath and Shiplake. We dispense to about a third of our patients (eligible because they live more than a mile from the local pharmacy 'as the crow flies').
